Founder, Bernard Bradley 1904
The inception of Bradley’s Quality Dry Cleaning continues a long family history in textile expertise. As long ago as 1912, my paternal grandfather, Bernard Bradley, an entrepreneur in the fashion industry designed, tailored and sold lady’s attire. At the outset of the First World War he gave his services to the military in the form of dress uniforms and later in the 1920’s designed the “guinea gown” for the discerning debutante on a budget.
Meanwhile, my maternal grandfather, Charles Teller, a master craftsman, was supplying the fashionistas, celebrities and the Royal Family with their millinery. Surviving the blitz when his first factory was destroyed, he went on to continue manufacturing in a new site post war and supplied his wares through an upmarket boutique in London under the name of “Elese”.
Eric Bradley, my father, returned from WWII to take up the family mantle, initially travelling around the country selling fabrics and textiles. He later concentrated on the burgeoning trend of specialist dry cleaning, opening one of the first unit dry cleaners in London.
In the mid 1950’s, his path crossed with that of Natalie Teller, a talented fashion designer who trained at the London School of Fashion and then went on to own an exclusive lingerie boutique aptly named “Natalie’s” in London. Eric and Natalie married in 1958 and continued the family genes when I was born in 1961.
Continuing Family Traditions
Clearly in the blood, I have been passionate about dry cleaning throughout my life and Bradley’s Quality Dry Cleaning is the culmination of my life’s work. I look forward to offering you the benefits of expertise served with old fashioned grace.
